So, it has finally happened.
My baby girl, at 8.5 months old has finally cut her first two teeth...in the same day.
I have been looking and watching for a long time, and we went to the park today, I was feeding her snacks and there they were. I didn't even see them this morning.
I was so excited I actually called Will from the park.
I don't think he was quite as excited as I was.
My Mum was.
Well, she was more like, "It's about time." LOL
Scott was almost 7 months old, I think, when he got his first teeth, so, yeah, I was kinda wondering when she would get hers.
I think she took it like a trooper.
She has had a few rough nights lately, but nothing really worse than normal.
I figure she is so used to being toughened up by her big brother than a couple sharp teeth pusing their way through her skin is child's play. :)
But I tell ya, those teethies are cute.
My girly is growing up.
Did I ever tell you how protective Scott is of his sister??? When she had pink eye, we had to hold her down to put in the eye drops and he stood there yelling at us becuase she was crying.
He sure does love her.
He crawls around on the floor with her...he's taught her how to eat dog food...he shares his toys...he is always trying to crawl into her pack 'n play with her, and if he is not lucky enough to be let in with her, he plays with her through the mesh.
He is just too funny.
I sure am blessed.
Well, I am gonna go clean up now, then tomorrow I have to make 2 batches of nanaimo bars, 4 dozen cookies, pack, go to Jenn's and deliver some nanaimo bars...busy busy.
We (me and the kids) are going up to Concord for Thanksgiving to Will's Uncle and Aunt's house, then spending a few days with my SIL by Sacramento. Should be a fun while away.
Talk to you all again when I get back.

NIKKI!!!

Seriously, girl, if I didn't know any better I would say you wrote this.
It just reminds me of you and the way you type.
Now, being totally honest here, I don't REALLY think this is compliments of Nikki, but if it were, I would so not be surprised.
Nikki has this uncanny ability to just make me laugh. Her writing is so funny and the way she expresses things just cracks me up...and I know she makes so many others laugh, too.
Anyways, I am sure that many of you will appreciate the humour from this blog which I am sure to link on my blog so I can visit it often for a good laugh.
SO, if you want a good laugh (and a glimpse into the life of a typical Mormon), please feel free to read this blog. It is well worth the read.
And I promise...you will laugh.

HAPPY REMEMBERANCE DAY.
We are so blessed to have our freedoms. Let's enjoy them. Let's remember those who have fought (and are fighting) for us to keep those blessed freedoms.

Oh, I love this time of year.
The leaves on the ground. The crisp air. A feeling of peace being outside in the most beautiful weather.
I love autumn. It is by far my favourite season.
I love everything about it.
I always have good intentions to take fall pics of the family and it never happens...and that kinda bugs.
Well, onto other stuff.
What is new???
We got the kid's passports done...YAH!!! They only took a week to get them. That is fantastic. Now we will have no problems at all getting onto flights up to Canada like last time.
Carpet cleaners are coming first thing inthe morning, so I am currently sitting in am apt. that looks like I am moving cause I had to move it all around.
I do so love having clean carpets.
I don't really have tons to say today, but I do want to say I love my family and I am so lucky to have them.
My husband is a good man. I am lucky to have him...but he's just a little bit luckier to have me...lol
He came home this weekend with a dozen long stemmed red roses for me. That was a beautiful way to start the day.
They smell so sweet and I smell them multiple times a day. I just love having them on the table.
Thanks, Honey.
I would post pics, but I haven't uplaoded pics yet (And since I REALLY should be in bed, I'm not uploading them right now). Sorry. But, hey, it's not like you've never seen red roses before...lol
Oh, and some other happy news, we got a new dishwasher today.
It is so quiet.
I had no idea how much quieter a dishwasher from the year 2008 would run compared to a dishwasher from 1987. Dude, I'm not much older than that dishwasher was...lol
I shoulda also informed maintenance that our stove/oven combo is also from 1987, but I don't think he woulda given me a new one...cause this sucker just won't die...lol
Well, I'm starting to get weird cause I am sleepy.
I will write again soon.

TRICK-OR-TREATING FUN

Well, apparently I did not take as many pictures as I had thought I had.
So sad.
But that does not mean I got none.
So, I will share a few.
We had a jolly good time.
Aerin was a pirate.
Scott was Ratatouille.
Solomon was Frodo (from Lord of the Rings).
Believe it or not, someone actually didn't know who Frodo was. I told her he was from Lord of the Rings. "Oh, well, I never watched Lord of the Rings."
Well, then, in that case, I guess you may not know who Frodo is...lol
Christine came trick-or-treating with us.
We started in the complex, and walked one side on our way out. We then went walking through the neighbouring houses. We were probably out for about 2.5 hrs. total.
Scott got so much candy.
A lot of times, when the people would give him candy in his bag (which I was holding) he would hold out his hand for more, and when they would lean down (bucket full of candy in hand) to give him another piece, he would put his hand in the bucket...lol
Other times, he would just keep holding his hand out. And they kept giving him more...even with me saying, "Okay, thanks. That's good enough." lol
He was just so cute, everyone was more than willing to give him more goodies.
Solomon was whining about Scott getting more than him, so we told him he just needed to be more charming when he walked to the doors. We told him what the crab in Little Mermaid said..."You got to bat your eyes like this. You got to pucker your lips like this." We thought that might get him more candy.
But he didn't try it, so we don't know if our theory would have worked...lol
On our way home, we walked up the other side of the complex and got a bit more.
It was lots of fun and I can hardly wait til next year...lol

WOW!!! It's been a week already, huh???
Not a whole lot has gone on this past week. Will had the last 3 days off and that was so nice. Overtime is drying up now, so he is actually home most of his days off. How nice is that???
Well, what has gone on in the past week.
Saturday night was the Halloween party at church. It was super fun but there were way too many people. It was a combined party with the Woodward Park ward, so it was super packed. Scott would run off and I would be left trying to get Aerin given to someonem then past people, "Excuse me. Excuse me. Ummmmm, excuse me, please." Just to get out to the hallway and ask, with no response, "Has anyone seen a rat?"
It was just crazy.
I spent the morning making 3 doz. cupcakes for it...they looked awesome.

Scott was Ratatouille. He looked so dang cute. His costume was gynormous on him and I had him s scantily clad underneath as possible so he would not cook. And by scantily clad, I mean sleeveless shirt and shorts :)
Aerin was a pirate. She was so cute, too...of course. Could we really expect anything less from my kiddos???

I should also mention that Aerin's shirt says "Arghhh...Wipe Me Bootie!"

Naturally, there was a Trunk-or-Treat. Scott had no idea what to do, but after, oh, 1person dropping that candy into his bag, he was a pro.
I figure it was good practice for this coming Friday night.
Here he is getting some goodies.

This is Aerin with her friend, Emily. Emily is only 9 days older than Aerin...Michelle, Emily's mom, was watching Aerin for me for a few minutes and when I came back, Aerin had her hand on Emily's on her car seat and it just looked so sweet. They just looked like the best of friends at that moment. In this pic, her hand had just come away a bit, but it's still so cute. And, well, to be honest, Emily is just so pretty that it just makes sense to still post the pic.
Oh, yeah, and that blanket that Emily has, I made her that.

Okay, so that was our weekend.
I have so many more pics on my camera still.
Oh goodness. I must tell you that Aerin started sitting on Sunday.
I had her sitting in her pack 'n play as I was getting ready for church and there she was...sitting.
So, after church I made her sit and took a few pics.
Doesn't she just look like a little pro???

FYI:
The reason Scott was a rat for Halloween is because his nickname is Rodent. His nickname is Rodent because rodents (such as rats) like to get into anything and everything including what they are not supposed to.
Like this.
This, just so you know, is brand new fabric for making baby blankets.
Well, hey, at least he looks comfy.
Oh, yeah, and he's cute.

I have also discovered that not only can Aerin sit, but she can stand, too...so, to say the least, the bassinet part of her pack 'n play has been taken out.
And this is why...
In the pack 'n play 100%.

No longer in the pack 'n play 100%.

On Monday night we went to the Pumpkin Patch. It was so cool. I have never been to a pumpkin patch before. Will told me to take my camera (as if I ever leave home without it) in case they had pony rides.
WHAT!?! Pony rides at a pumpkin patch???
Who knew???
Well, obviously Will.
They had pony rides, bounce houses, corn maze...but we just put Scott on the pony. He doesn't care that much about bounce houses.
He sat on that pony like a little pro. After about 2 or 3 mins of riding, he decided he'd had enough and started crying and trying to get off the pony. I totally had to get the guy to stop the ride before he succeeded in getting out of the straps that held him on. I was walking along side him, so it's not like I wouldn't have caught him, but that's not the point. I still don't think that would have been the safest option for him getting off the pony :)
Poor other girl on the ride musta felt all jipped...lol
Having a good time.

No longer having a good time. Time to get off.

And, of course, we have to have pictures sitting among the pumpkins.

And Aerin, bless her little heart, woke up just before we left, so I was able to snap a few pics of her awake and out of her car seat at the patch.

After the patch, we went to Mimi's for dinner and then to Target...and, naturally, spent way more than planned. That's basically how it always goes at Target.
Tuesday...what did we do Tuesday.
We got passport pics taken of the kids...sadly, when we took them in with the applications today, the pics were rejected cause they were too big. Come on, the amount of passport pics that these places take, you'd think they would know the right size. So, since we wre on a time budget, we just ran across the street and had them done again at a different place.
But their pics yesterday were so cute, I just had to share them with you.
Scott cracks me up cause he just looks so serious.
Oh, that kid makes me laugh.
And you know the funny thing is we figured if the pics got rejected it would be because Aerin was smiling in hers.
But, nope, they got rejected for other reasons.

Well, I guess that is all for now.
I gotta go clean up the living room and tidy the kitchen before heading to bed.
Nighty night.

So, goodness. What is going on in the life of Krystin???
I gotta say, I do love having a "Live Traffic Feed" on my blog. It really lets me know that even though I uber-suck at updating, I still have people who check on me...so, really, it does make me want to be better at blogging.
I just have yet to be better.
I must be like Nikki.
I mean, really, how many days has she ever missed blogging since she started her blog.
A whole lot less than me, I can tell ya.
I have been spending a lot of time doing blankets. I just finished another 2 tonight, was hoping for 3, but I forgot to get a certain colour of thread. Okay, that's a lie. I was hoping for the last 5, but I forgot to get 3 certain colours of thread...lol
Oops, my bad.
Random Question: Have you ever eaten something and afterwards realized you have what feels like a waxy coating on the inside of your mouth??? (Not so pleasant, I assure you.)
Well, if you ever feel the need to have a waxy coating feeling in your mouth, eat the no name brand of Captain Crunch Berries cereal. I don't actually know if that is what it's called, but I'm sure you're all smart enough to find it in the grocery store if you really wanted to...lol
I am uber-hungry right now and just don't want to make anything...and, so, yeah. This is what I got.
How can kids eat this crap??? It's totally McNasty. The only reason we have it is cause Solomon loves it and it's about all he will eat.
I am sure Scott would love it if I would let him eat it, but since I don't, he doesn't know that he would probably love it...and I will keep it that way as long as I possibly can.
Well, Scott now says "Cookie", as well. Let's add one more word to his list of, like, less than 10 words, I am sure. It takes way too much brain power at this time of night to actually sit and think of the words he says.
I sure do love my boy and I love hearing him chatter away...even though it makes absolutely no sense to me at all.
Aerin is eating cheerios and crackers now, too. I was way scared to give them to her since she has, like, NO teeth to speak of to chew them with...but, she is a much better eater than Scott was with that kinda stuff and she does great. I mean, just look at this kid. She's a pro.

Scott is such a good big brother. He loves sharing with Aerin and he just loves her so much.
In this picture, well, he decided to share his toys with her...and she appears to be very grateful, to say the least.

Scott is such a goof. Well, I don't even need to explain, let's just say he has grown and some things he just doens't fit into as well as he used to...lol
But I will let you be the one to tell him that, cause he won't listen to me.

FYI: She totally is not the only one in there. I love how she is looking at him in this pic, too. To me, it totally says, "I love you, Big Brother."

Scott is going through a silly phase right now where he loves wearing our shoes. It's so funny...cause, obviously, they are huge on him.

Aerin is crawling now. She is so gosh-darn cute. She has been trying for a while now, and finally started getting the hang of it last week. I will try posting a couple of videos later on...or maybe I will try now. I don't know.
And this one, well, it's about a minute, and the first little bit is just whatever, but just wait and keep watching. Trust me, it's worth it. It's super cute.

Scottie is such a good little helper. He helped us the other day to carry in groceries...he is just such a good boy.

My little Blue Eyed Beauty.

Scott has taken quite a liking to books and I think it is so cute to see the concentration in his face as he is "reading" his books. His current favourites are "The Christmas Star" and "My First Truck Board Book" (or something like that). The Christmas Star is about a little lamb named Star who is to be in a Christmas pageant. Well, here he is reading it.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm... my first chocolate cookie. My brother sure loves me to have given me this.
PEEK-A-BOO!!! I see you!!!
Just so you all know, I have spent a bunch of time this evening working on a blog posting, but I am crazy tired, and am going to finish it tomorrow.
So, yeah, just to let you know, there will be a REALLY LONG post sometime tomorrow.

Friday, October 03, 2008

Okay, so my boy isn't the best little chatterbox on the block, but he can say a couple new words. Words that are probably not among any regular kid's first words. These words happen to be "donkey" and "panda".
It's so cute...we were looking through a couple different books with animals (of which these two were in them) and as he would point and say "Da" for that, I would tell him what animal it was...and he repeated it.
It was just so cute, let me tell you.
As for other news, I decided to do a 6 month photo shoot of Aerin today, since we are nearing the end of 6 months for her in the near future. I'm kinda disappointed in most of the pics, as I was using a tripod and still a lot of them were blurry.
I would like to share a few, though. I also, naturally, did some pics of Scott, too.
Oh, and Auntie, if you happen to see these pics, in case you don't notice, they are both wearing the outfits you gave them when we were up this summer.

Also, I have decided to start making and selling baby blankets...amongst some other stuff.
I have been working most nights on these. I have never made a baby blanket before, so these have been really good practice. I think they are so crazy cute and can hardly wait to start selling them.
I average about 2 a night and can, honestly, only work on them when both babies are asleep. I tried once while Scott was awake and that was a big mistake.
Anways...here are a couple pics of some of them.
These are the first 2 I made.
What do you think???

And this is the stack of all 6 that I have done so far.
They are made of fleece, then lined with a satin binding. They are finished size of 34" x 44"...so they are perfect for baby through toddler years.

So, I guess that is all for now.

So, I would like to post this to help my friend.
She makes tutu sets that she is selling on Etsy.com and they are absolutely adorable.
Her husband is also PD and this is a home business of hers.
I thought I would let you all know about her shop so if you are wondering at this crazy time of Halloween approaching and have no clue what your little princess could be, her tutu sets really are wonderful.
She does them custom size, so you have no worries on whether or not it will fit or if she has one in stock.
This is the link to her store.
Well, I cannot get it to be a clickable link, so if you are at all interested in seeing what she has (and possibly purchasing), then please copy and paste this link in your browser window.

Well, I am happy to say that we did not have the flu.
We had rotavirus.
Much better, huh???
So, I can proudly maintain my streak of never having the flu.
Now, as for other news.
Aerin had her 6 month check-up yesterday.
She is still a tiny little angel.
She weighed in at 13lbs 11oz. (10th percentile)
And she was 26" long (50th percentile)
Since her 4 month check-up she has only gained 1 lb 3 oz.
The Dr. said to start her on real food now. Potatoes, pasta, rice, toast, yogurt, cheese and such. The kid doesn't even have teeth yet. We tried a cracker today and that didn't go over so well. Will needs to vaccuum today...lol
Wanna hear a super funny story. It is really a somewhat "a not the brightest bulb on the christmas tree moment" story based on "MOI" and I think you will enjoy it.
The battery died on the truck yesterday so I got stranded at the grocery store with the kids on a day that my MIL's truck thermometer claimed it to be 128 degrees. My MIL came and rescued me and the kids. She picked up Will on the way.
I drove the truck home (after the tow truck got it started) with strict instructions many a times, "Do not turn the truck off. Go straight home and park the truck backwards. Do not turn it off before then."
Very strict instructions.
So, what does Krystin do when she drives into the apartment complex??? I go check the mail...using a key ring that does not include the truck key. But this is the fun part. Krystin always takes the key out of the iginiton to check the mail cause the kids are in the truck...and obviously, I don't need someone stealing the truck with my kids in it. But can you guess the problem with my little habit of taking the keys out of the ignition???
Yeah. I get back in and the truck won't start...lol
I had to push the truck back to my apartment.
Which I did.
Pushing it backwards into the parking stall proved to be much more difficult than pushing it forwards, though. Lucky for me, the guy who lives 3 doors down had just drove up, so he assisted me.
I was even gutsy enough to admit this to Will and my MIL. To say the least, they were quite impressed with my ability to push the truck by myself. It really is quite a beastly and manly big truck...with extra big tires (which makes it harder to push...but I am woman, hear me roar...lol)
So, that's my funny story for the day.
Oh, as for other news.
I have been officially asked to be a bridesmaid next summer in my SIL's wedding. I am so super excited. It is going to be up at Bass Lake. Aerin is going to be a flower girl. I have already started my weight loss regimen...if you wanna call it that
I am going to the gym everyday. Well, not the past few since we had rotavirus...but I am officially down in the high 170's...ehcih is below my weight at my wedding...so I am happy about that. And I was at the before I got sick, so it wasn't the sickness that made me lose the weight.
My plan is to go to one class a day. Be it yoga, pilates, kickboxing or stome sort of body sculpting class. Then after the class I go on the treadmill.
I want to be back down to 160 for the wedding. I think that is a very attainable goal.
Well, I guess that is all to tell you about for now.
TTFN.

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Well, not a whole lot going on here right now.
I thought I would try to do this in seuence...since I am weird like that.
Since my last post.
We had to take Shawnessy to the vet and while we were waiting Scott sat on a totally cute kids bench. He just looked so cute sitting there.

This, now this is just hilarious.
You remember a while back I showed you a pic of Scott wearing that blue Mexican wrestling mask??? Well, he decided to put it on Aerin one day and it was just so dang cute and funny.

Friday night Scotty was sick. He threw up out of nowhere. Little did we know what this would bring to our household.
We ended up sleeping on the couch that night...I didn't want him throwing up all over my bed...I don't have spare sheets, you see.
Here is my poor sick boy.

Saturday was our niece, Bria's, sweet 16 birthday party. It was a totaly surprise and so much fun.
I went over early and Christine did my makeup (I looked hot!!! lol) and I helped set up and stuff.
We had tons of family there that we haven't seen for awhile.
I hace pics, but I didn't take my memory card, so they are on the internal memory of my camera. Sadly, I cannot find my usb cord to import them to the comp so I had to spend another $4 to get another one. It's on order, so you will have to wait to see pics until the cord gets here.
Now, although this party was for Bria, Christine had just had her birthday too so I made them each a card.

Solomon was pretty impressed overall. It apparently took Camille 3 hours to make her MOther's Day card for her Mom and it took me like half an hour to make two cards. Apparently, that is pretty impressive...lol
So, Saturday was the party.
It's kinda a tradition that whenever family is in town, we all go out for breakfast the next day. So, on Sunday we went out for breakfast to a cafe that Aubray (Will's cousin) works at. It was very nice. I didn't need to hold Aerin at all cause everyone took care of her.
Sunday night was a fun night.
Solomon got sick. And when I say sick, I mean really sick. And that was only the beginning. Cause after he starting throwing up, Aerin started throwing up. I ended up making 3 trips to the grocery store for things like gingerale, cleaning supplies, and pedialyte and gatorade.
After going to bed, my body apparently didn't want to be left out of the fun, so I was up being sick, too...plus taking care of a baby who was sick. Scott was still recovering so he slept for like 15 hrs that night...straight through.
Monday was miserable cause we were all so tired and weak. Solomon was still sick that day. Aerin and I were no longer sick sick, just tired and weak. We are all much better today, but still not 100%. However, if you wanna lose weight, I recommend the flu diet...I lost 3 lbs in 36 hrs...lol
So, to say the least, family have been warned that we were all contagious at the party.
To say the least, it has been a pretty miserable couple days.
I guess that is all for now.
